We arrived at Carmel River
State Beach to find 8-10 foot waves slamming the beach.
We could see to the south that Monastery Beach was flat. |
This is about as flat as I have ever seen
Monastery Beach1-3 foot waves. |

This is another launch spot option inside Pt
Lobos State Park The ramp on the far right in the picture
is the only place you can legally launch inside the park. |
We paddled out to Seal Cove
which is the first major cove one comes to. Inside the
cove we found seasonal waterfalls from the recent rains. |
 |
 |
Small waterfalls too! |
We paddled into the first small cove. |
 |
 |
A beautiful sheltered cove! |
We stopped for soup and a hot drink. |
